One Final Reflection

When completing my capstone, I thought I would find “closer” and I would be able to “move on to the next chapter in life.” However, I ended up realizing that that’s not what I wanted at all. The past eight months I’ve just spent in Brazil is something I would like to cherish, hold on to, and revisit later on in life. I’ve really taken the time and gave it my all to immerse myself into the culture to truly learn something about the world and to use it in my everyday life. Instead of moving on in life and treating Brazil as a one time experience, I would love to take the time to go back and to also branch out and travel the world to make similar connections that I have made in Florianòpolis, Santa Catarina.

I am so appreciative of everyone that has gotten me to the place that I am today. I want to thank all of my family (the ones that encouraged and discouraged) for motivating me to take this leap into the unknown, all of GCY staff for all the dedication they have put into helping me mature into a responsible adult, my host family for showing me the things that are truly important in life and giving me their love as if I was one of their own, and all the friends I’ve made in the past year for all the unconditional support and good times. I am truly happy with where I am at in life and so excited to see where this will lead me later on.

As I proceed on, I will take these values and lessons that I learned with me so that I can have a better opportunity of excelling at Xavier University of Louisiana. Again I am so grateful for all the support I received and excited to see what great things I can create with the tools I have. Brasil tem espacio en dentro de meu coração para sempre. Best of luck to all of you and can’t wait to see where we all end up in the future!
