Drunk Puppy?

Alec Yeh - Senegal

I was in some basement that I’ve never been in. There was a red cup of some clear liquid in front of me, and a puppy on the ground. It was an adorable puppy; brown with white spots. I didn’t know what the cup was full of, but the puppy spilled it over, and started drinking from it. I figured it was just water and let the puppy continue. But then I realized, it wasn’t. I picked up the puppy and put it on the other side of the room. But the puppy couldn’t walk in a straight line. The puppy was drunk!

Then I realized I was dreaming. I realize, there are no puppies in Senegal, and basements don’t exist in Senegal. So I contemplated whether to wake up or not, and I decided that I wanted to see what would happen in my dream. So I stayed asleep.

I picked up the puppy, and all of a sudden, it became emaciated and bony and fetus-like. It was gross. But I thought, “Hmmm, maybe the dog would like to sleep it off!” So I brought the dog to my bed, and tucked it in like a baby. I figure this would be the end of my dream, so I tried to wake up.

I couldn’t. Something wouldn’t let me. I felt like I was trapped in my dream. I was like “Holy cow. I’m trapped in my dream with a drunk puppy in my bed.” So I mustered up all my energy, and I tried as hard as I could to wake up.

And I did.

It was the strangest thing in the world. I think the mefloquine (malaria prophylaxis) is finally giving me those lucid dreams I wanted.
