Global Citizen Year Welcomes Two New Board Members

Global Citizen Year is thrilled to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors: Imani Dunbar and Erika Kelton.

“The Board of Directors plays a critical role in our organization, supporting our strategic thinking, our philanthropic efforts, and my leadership as Global Citizen Year enters our next era. With that in mind, it’s my true pleasure to welcome Imani and Erika. These two exceptional leaders add depth of knowledge and expertise, embody our values, reflect our commitment to diversity, support our student experience and will drive us forward with strength.” -Erin Lewellen, CEO of Global Citizen Year

Imani Dunbar is a highly accomplished global business executive with more than 20 years of experience in analytics, data, operations, strategy, technology at leading global companies including PwC, Facebook, and LinkedIn. As head of LinkedIn’s equity strategy, Dunbar brings a new, mission-aligned technology and leadership development perspective to the board. This expertise will be critical as Global Citizen Year works with and develops programs for young people whose lives are deeply interwoven with technology.

“This is an organization that reaches youth during one of the most indelible transition periods – adolescence to young adulthood,” Dunbar says. “The organization dares to prepare the youth to think, to feel, to care, to question, to learn – all lessons that will help enact change in the world so many of us want to see; and fast track whatever career they choose”

Erika Kelton is an internationally recognized whistleblower attorney and the parent of a Global Citizen Year Fellowship Alumna. Kelton brings important legal expertise and counsel to Global Citizen Year’s Board, strengthening our commitment to programmatic safety, security and risk management.

“As the parent of an alum,” Kelton says, “I have seen firsthand the transformational impact of this organization’s globally immersive experiences. I had the pleasure of visiting my daughter Gemma in India during her Fellowship and seeing her thrive navigating the challenges of a new setting. Since then, I’ve seen enormous growth in her (and many of her friends that I’ve come to know), and I credit the Global Citizen Year experience. Specifically, for providing that global perspective and ability to work across lines of difference that have set her up for lifelong success.”

With Dunbar and Kelton’s appointment, the Global Citizen Year Board has expanded to 10 Directors. Read more about our full Board of Directors here
