when words fail

“Music is the universal language of mankind.” — Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

We recently had TS2, where all the fellows come together after spending uninterrupted time with our host communities and being immersed. During these seminars we have sessions in which we talk about a number of things surrounding our experience in Senegal. One of the last sessions was based around creative storytelling though mediums that we maybe wouldn’t have thought about. Interpretive dance, poetry, drawing, videos… music. This struck a chord with me because music has been such an important part of my time in Senegal, and just in general, music has played a large part in my life.

I decided that for this blog post, I would go around and ask every person in my cohort for a song that have been meaningful (or they’ve had on repeat) during our time here and put them in a playlist! There is a wide variety of genres and I think it’s a good insight into what we’ve been playing in our headphones during the past 5 months!

Have fun figuring out what song belongs to what fellow and what songs are ‘cohort schmoods’.
Listen in order ‘cause there’s a reason for each songs’ placement  and I would encourage other cohorts to make playlists of their own!
