senegal interlude #001- did a thing.

“I find when I have short hair, I feel like I have nothing to
hide behind anymore.” – Halle Berry
My hair has been a safety blanket my entire life. I’ve always had hair that was pretty long and undeniably curly. I’ve hid behind it for a really long time.
At the beginning of this week, I did something I’ve been wanting to do for a really, really long time. So, I chopped it all off. Yes, chopped. None of us know how to cut hair all that well but that didn’t stop us. Thank you to my fellow Fellows, Avi, Julieta, Katie, Sarah, Shannon Yuen, and Soph for all taking a lock and cutting it for me. It’s now tucked away, in my backpack, to be donated… at some point.
Here is a video of it all happening.

Also, I’m really sorry if you saw that Instagram / Facebook post where I said that this haircut was a result of my bad Laala. I promise, it was intentional.

Here’s the last photo I took with my hair and a photo of the bundle after it was all off.

**Interludes will be smaller things that aren’t regular blog worthy but still worthy of sharing.
