My Open Letter to My English Students

Mis
estudiantes chistosos, locos, amables, risueños, divertidos, pacientes, y
sonrientes,

Primero: no
practicar o hacer preguntas.

            Los
voy a extrañar mucho. Nunca olvidaré sus caras y cómo me sonrieron o me
saludaron al otro lado del campus. Gracias por el increíble año y experiencia.

Saludos
cordiales,

JuliaGrace

Y ahora en Ingles…

My funny, hyper, crazy, friendly, laughing, fun, patient,
and smiling UEAS English Students,

            What
an seven months it has been… I cannot believe it was just seven months ago I
was standing in front of your class rooms introducing myself nervously.

            Your
eagerness to learn English over the year has greatly improved. You try to say
things, even though you know it may be incorrect. You make the effort, which is
what counts. It makes me smile every time your eyes light up when you know you
pronounced a word right or remembered the correct past participle. You now ask
me more often how to say something in English or if you are saying something
correctly. I am so happy that you want to try and improve. Your attitudes have
completely changed over the year.

            There
were some tough moments over the year where you made me cry, yell, or call in
the discipline inspector. Those were probably the moments you were mad or
frustrated at me. I wouldn’t trade any of those hard classes with you.

            Thank
you for being patient with my Spanish when I tried explaining grammar that I
was also learning but in Spanish. Thank you for helping improve my Spanish by
telling me when I pronounced or said something wrong. You are large part of the
reason my Spanish improved so fast and why it is where it is now. I will never
be able to fully express my gratitude for this.

            Please
never stop practicing your English, because if you don’t you will either forget
or not improve. Please remember these two things. First: Don’t feel embarrassed
when practicing your English. It’s okay to make mistakes. Second: Please know
you can reach out to me to practice or ask questions.

            I
am going to miss you all dearly. I will never forget your faces and how you
smiled back at me or greeted me across campus. Thank you for the incredible
year and experience.

Sincerely,

JuliaGrace Walker
