Being Home

Desire Mulla - Ecuador

June 1, 2016

After spending almost a year away from what seems to be normality to
an individual I was over the top excited to get home. At some point in
my year I even counted down the days that would lead to me being home.
At that point in time I had not experienced the journey of departing
that I would have to go through and process because even with the
reverse cultural shock discussions I never thought being home would
prove this difficult, trying but also teaching a lot on my year and
experience.
I cannot deny that after being home I have at times felt left out of
the general conversation and other times I have also felt
misunderstood. However all these feelings and emotions that I have
been rolling into, through and out of: have helped me further
understand myself and grow and take a lifetime worth lesson from my
experience.
