Letter to my friends

Tuesday, August 16, 2016 5:20 P.M.

We’ve come a long way. Whether we’ve known each other for a couple months or years. Through all of our ups and downs you have stuck by me. You have watched me grow and change as I have watched you too. That’s what friendship is about. It’s about our willingness to be there for each other even when it feels like you’re alone. Even in times when you feel like words cannot be exchanged and you let the pain take over, the friendship remains. Or maybe, just maybe all that can be done is to let the tears pour and the words spill.

We’ve come a long way. We will continue to go a long way.

I just hope you let it continue to flourish even when it’s not pretty. We’ve hurt one another at one point maybe once maybe twice because no one is perfect and we will continue to screw up. But that’s what is so beautiful about friendship. It’s when a person decides that you are worth the fight. Not a romantically involved type of fight but a stronger one. One that changes your life every single day. The type of fight that feels like home.

I guess all I have left to do is apologize. So here it is:

Dear friend,

I’m sorry. I’m sorry for all the pain I have caused you. For the countless arguments we have faced. The bickering that slowly breaks the bond or makes the bond we share. I’m sorry because I’m not perfect and neither are you. But thank you. Because unlike others, you have stayed by my side and held my hand. And I just hope that my absence will only make us stronger. And remember: I love you.

Alo
