Fwd: Mi primer mes en Brasil. My first month in Brazil

13:15 a 17:15.

I felt at home was when I ate rice, beans, fruits, salads and meats.
September 7th is the independence day in Brazil. That day I was blessed to
meet my Host Family with whom I felt more than welcome. Mrs Eclér, Adriana,
Iurian and Nathan. Also her son Rafael with Alessandra and his son Artur
were there. They have been simply treating me super well and making me feel
at home.

Last month, I also started my volunteer work at El Centro Cultural Escrava
Anastácia. This center is an NGO that works with young people from 12 to 20
years old who have or might have some links with drugs and they live in
vulnerable areas. This NGO educates them in areas such as marketing,
finance, consumer rights, ethics and citizenship to be incorporated in the
future labour force. They attend 4 days a week and need to attend in the
morning or afternoon section. These sections are from 8:00am to 12:00pm or
from 1:15pm to 5:15pm. During my first week I was helping in the secretary
area. The others two weeks I have been in finances classes interacting with
them. I had the opportunity to talk with them and to understand deeply some
problems and situations that they face every day. This organization during
these 7 months wants from me to help in the all areas that they have in
order to have a better understanding of their work.

During this time thanks to my family and also to GCY I had the opportunity
to know places, meet people and do activities. For example, Fortaleza de
Santo Antônio de Ratones where the Portuguese built a fort for possible
invasions from Spanish. Also, the Mirante do Morro da Cruz where you can
see much of the city of Florianópolis. Activities like Capoeira and
portuguese clases. These are just few things from all my activities in
Brazil.
