BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURE OF CHURCHES IN CUENCA

One of the things I am really fascinated about is architecture. I just love to admire old building and churches. So I was very lucky indeed that I was placed in a very old city which was/ is known for its beautiful architecture. Cuenca is very famous for the beautiful churches and very touristy city. Being in that city made me love architecture even more. Here are some pictures of churches and a bit of history of them.

1)OlD CHURCH OF CUENCA

Iglesia Sagrario ( or old church) was started building in 1557. Spanish influence moved to Cuenca. This was used by the French on their geodesic mission. Now, this has become a museum filled with religious artifacts. In one of the rooms, there are some several paintings that spread from floor to ceilings. The painting represents the last supper and statues.

2) IGLESIA SAN SEBASTIAN

With Spanish stained- glass windows, Italian marble on the walls and floors and its three blue domes, this cathedral is a beautiful and amazing work of art.The construction of this cathedral began in 1885 and it took about one hundred years to finish this fascinating architecture of San Sebastian. It is very big and it located in the middle of the city and on Cuenca's main park named Parque Calderon.

These are the two of my favorite designed cathedrals in Cuenca. It is very nicely done.
