An Hour

Here is a journal entry from December when I traveled an hour to get data for a CARE nutrition project. I hope it captures a little of the growth that I am beginning to see in myself.

This is a new experience. I rode the bus from Cayambe to Olmedo solo today. I actually enjoyed this more than taking the truck. You see so much more and aren’t being forced to make conversation. It was nerve-wracking but I figured it out. Then, I got off the bus too early and had to take a truck and I’m pretty sure he (the driver) ripped me off, but I still learned so much. I feel more empowered after asking for directions and just saying hi to people.

When I got to the school they didn’t have the information I needed, the children’s pesos (weights) or tallas(heights). I did however learn so much about myself and most importantly, I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone and that is the most important thing to do.

I’m waiting in the bus to get back, and all is well.
