The other night, as I was having dinner with my parents, I gave them the same spiel I have been giving to all my friends and family. Something in the likes of “I have lost sense of reality”, “I feel weird”, “I don’t know what I’m doing”….
My parents have been away in Europe for the past couple of weeks, leaving me alone, and dangerously close to my own thoughts. I find it ironic that as soon as they return, they can so readily diagnose the problem I have been pondering over for months.
They realized that I need structure (REVELATION). Because I no longer have school, and don’t know what to expect in the next year, there is endless *life* opportunity. It is all very exciting, but also very confusing. Last night was one of those very rare moments where my parents stated the obvious and I actually realized it is what needed to be said. So thanks Mom and Dad.
Together, we established a few reasons why a blog is a good idea:
- It will give me a purpose, something to commit to so I don’t lose my mind
- It is a form of self-motivation. If I share my daily observations, or state my goals, I may actually ACT on them. (I will have to if I just told the world I was going to.)
- I can fine tune my writing skills and get over my fear of writing (procrastination relief).
- It is a way to record my adventures, so I have something to look back on in the future.
So yes. This was my epiphany. I am writing on my existing blog about how I am excited to blog, and I am confirming that I will be blogging (even if that was already the plan). Also, this is a ‘Thank You’ to Global Citizen Year for making me commit to a blog, which I now realize the value of.
Thanks for bearing with me as I get the hang of this,
