Lara Solis is from Costa Rica, where she graduated from UWCCR as a part of the class of 2019. She is also a previous Global Citizen Year fellow, part of the India 2020 Cohort. She currently studies psychology and gender studies at Lake Forest College in Chicago. She’s particularly interested in creating a diverse and inclusive community, by being involved in multiple ethnic groups on campus, particularly in uplifting Latina womxn. She is a feminist activist and advocates for sexual assault survivors, seeking to establish systems that support and empower all womxn, by working with her college’s Title IX office and reformulating consent and sexual education sessions. She is deeply passionate about alternative ways of education beyond the classroom, focused on a new approach to learning, its intersectionality with the arts, and setting up spaces for daily creativity and mindfulness.
