Edgard Gouveia Júnior never tires of putting people to play. As an Architect, Urbanist and Post Graduate in Cooperative Games, he dedicates his career to mobilize teenagers, youth and adults by designing and applying virtual games, scavenger hunts and collective actions that lead to small community revolutions. He is the CEO & Founder of Epic Journey, a company that promotes the regeneration of communities in organizations such as companies, schools and NGOs. He is also the co-founder of LiveLab that specifically acts with the youth leading regeneration in their own communities, highlighting Jornada X e Primavera X.
Edgard is a Berkana and Ashoka Fellow, and a TRIP Transformers and Responsible Leader BMW Foundation. He is also Professor on Post-graduation Cooperative Games Pedagogy, Youth Initiative Program and MSLS in Sweden Knowmads in the Netherlands, C-Xin in Taiwan and Gaia Training in Brazil. He is partner of Projeto Cooperação and co-founder of Instituto Elos and Oasis Game where he remained until 2010, and Programs Warriors Without Weapons, where he participated until 2010.
He has worked as a Lecturer in several TEDx and international consultants in Europe, North America and Asia where he applies social technologies such as Cooperative Games, World Cafe, Open Space, Circular Dances, Nonviolent Communication and X Journey. He is the creator of X Journey, an online scavenger hunt that challenges children and young people in real-world tasks to mobilize their communities in hands-on actions to regenerate social and environmental issues within their territories. It aims to engage 2 billion people playing together to restore balance in the Biosphere. He believes that through play, changing the world can be fast, free and fun and the result will be fantastic.
