Abby Falik Selected as Ashoka Fellow

A Message from our Board Chair

As Global Citizen Year’s board chair, and the proud father of a Global Citizen Year Alumna, I’m writing today with some exciting news. Global Citizen Year Founder/CEO, Abby Falik, was recently selected as an Ashoka Fellow. This honor is one of the preeminent awards given to leading social entrepreneurs who have pioneered innovative solutions to social problems that have the potential to make significant positive changes in society.

In just five years, Abby’s passion, tenacity and entrepreneurial savvy have built Global Citizen Year into a thriving organization.
Today we have 350+ alumni from over 40 states attending over 100 universities.
Beyond the organization, Abby’s vision and leadership are helping to shape a national conversation about high school graduates’ path to higher education. Leading institutionsfrom Tufts University to The New School to United World College count us as a strategic partner in creating meaningful bridge years between high school and college.  Combined with major commitments from thoughtful funding partners such as the Ford Foundation and Shelby Davis we know this is just the beginning of what’s to come.
