Vice President, Business Development

Over the past 10 years, Global Citizen Year has built the premier Fellowship for exceptional young people between high school and college while shaping a new narrative about the future of education. We’ve grown our operation ten-fold since our launch in 2010. Today, our 1,000 alumni are thriving in college and careers and have been honored as Fulbright Scholars, Davis Peace Prize winners, and Gates Millennium Scholars. We’ve raised over $25M in philanthropic capital from a growing roster of funders and partners, and earned more than $10M in revenue from tuition and partnership fees. We've built a talented global team, advisory council and board of directors, and our work has been featured in prominent forums from the PBS NewsHour and Chronicle of Higher Education to the Goldman Sachs’ Builders & Innovators Summit, and by thought leaders including Katie Couric and Nicholas Kristof.

In 2019 we engaged in an in-depth strategic planning process with support from The Bridgespan Group and in 2020 we will launch an ambitious plan for scaling our impact and influence in the coming decade.

Today, we are seeking a seasoned business development professional to lead the partnerships and revenue streams that will fuel our next chapter.

The Vice President of Business Development (VPBD) will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and will lead revenue generation across multiple channels. Specifically, the VPBD will be responsible for the performance, strategy, and alignment of the organization’s business development team and function, including fundraising from high net worth individuals, developing corporate partnerships and identifying new sources of revenue that align with our new strategic plan. The VPBD will partner with the CEO, SLT and Board to implement a five-year fundraising strategy. S/he will build and manage a team as well as their own pipeline of donors and partners.

We are looking for an enterprising builder and inspiring leader with a track-record delivering on revenue targets while developing and leveraging diverse, high-level networks. Building on our early successes, the VPBD will be the “spark” that helps drive organizational growth and momentum.
