Global Launch Alumni Leadership Team Volunteers (For Alumni / Volunteer)

The Programs Team exists to create the platform for a unique, immersive, and transformative learning experience for all Fellows. Global Launch is a pivotal moment in the Fellow journey, and the Alumni Leadership Team contributes to its success by supporting successful execution of the week-long event and sharing their perspective with Fellows. If you are interested in lending your voice and skills to bring the magic for 2019-20 Fellows, then this is just the opportunity for you!


As a Global Launch Alumni Leadership Team Volunteer you will...

  • Assist in creating a high energy and fun atmosphere

  • Plan and facilitate select alumni-led sessions at Global Launch

  • Provide logistical support for other Global Launch sessions and external speakers

  • Support and coach Fellows through questions regarding preparation for their gap year

  • Model Global Citizen Behavior for new Fellows

  • Greet and welcome Fellows at SFO

  • Visually record the day through photography and video, and post on social media sites

  • Create fun and eye catching signs and banners at Global Citizen Year office

  • Assist the Operations Team in preparing materials & supplies for Global Launch

Qualifications & Mindset

What we are looking for in you...

  • Applicants must be alumni from 2016-17 or earlier cohort
  • Enthusiastic: you are excited about Fellows & want to be a memorable part of their experience
  • Youth Development: you have some experience with planning and developing activities for youth or you enjoy coaching and motivating young people
  • Communication: Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Hospitality: you enjoy creating an atmosphere where guests feel welcomed, and you have a warm & friendly disposition
  • Reliability: you are a person of your word & can be counted on to complete tasks and model GCB

Position Details

Covered Expenses

While this is a volunteer opportunity with the Programs Team, Global Citizen Year will cover the following expenses:

  • Round trip travel to and from the San Francisco Bay Area
  • Accommodations and meals (August 21 - 31)

Time Frame & Location

Members of the ALT must be available for all the following dates:

  • Weds, August 21 - Fri, August 23 - Training & preparing materials at the Global Citizen Year office (1625 Clay St, #400, Oakland, CA 94612)
  • Sat, August 24 - Loading materials & supplies for transport from the GCY office to Stanford University
  • Sun, August 25 - Sat, August 31 - Attend and support the execution of Global Launch at Stanford University
