Director of Teaching & Learning

Global Citizen Year is looking for a leader with vision, creativity and curriculum development expertise to join its Program Leadership Team as the Director of Teaching and Learning. In this newly created role, you will be charged with curriculum and programmatic oversight and alignment across each of the 5 countries where we operate. This person will be an expert in designing young adult learning experiences, culturally responsive teaching practices, and purposeful and aligned curriculum design that supports Fellows to become independent learners. This position reports to the VP of Programs and manages the Fellow Success Manager.

As the Director of Teaching & Learning you will

  • Define equity-centered pedagogy and develop curriculum framework that aligns with intended learning outcomes.
  • Develop and codify through-line between all Fellow learning; includes Fellow trainings in the US and abroad and the experiential learning components while in-country.
  • Design staff training for staff that directly impact Fellow learning and engagement.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with organizations to accelerate and enhance Fellow learning.
  • Develop nimble structures and systems that allow for master faculty to engage and enhance Fellow learning throughout the program cycle.
  • Develop and launch online learning strategy to enhance Fellow learning and engagement and train the staff that directly support their learning.

What we are looking for in you

  • 10+ years of experience in the design and implementation of high-quality, educational programming, teaching teenagers and young adults, and training colleagues to cultivate positive group culture and execute a curriculum.

  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, with proven ability to communicate across global teams.

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Experience sourcing and implementing technology that enhances learning outcomes

  • Competent to excellent with excel and using it for analysis.

  • Experience managing growth without compromising impact.


Position Details

  • Compensation: Competitive salary (commensurate with experience) and comprehensive benefits package

  • Location: Oakland, CA (cannot support remote for this role)
