Director of Growth Marketing

About this role

Global Citizen Year is seeking an entrepreneurial and innovative Director of Growth Marketing to help develop and own execution of our growth marketing strategy, increasing our brand awareness and growing the number of participants in our programs. Reporting directly to the VP of Growth, this role will be responsible for managing a diverse team of marketers, recruiters, and creative contributors to identify and execute on opportunities to drive growth. This is an exciting opportunity that comes at a unique pivot point for the organization. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of scaling up a new product or revenue channel to achieve our mission of launching a new generation of leaders.

Your Opportunity for Impact

Lead Global Citizen Year’s Marketing Team to Successfully Meet and Exceed Growth Goals:

  • Own the marketing lifecycle, strategy and execution for Global Citizen Year: This includes customer acquisition, engagement, conversion, close, and retention. At Global Citizen Year this means expanding the market of students aware of and interested in our programming, educating them on what we do and tracking them through to the submission of an application for our programs.
  • Develop and execute our marketing strategy, inclusive of online and offline channels: optimize paid and owned media channels to maximize acquisition, test new channels and markets, and iterate to unlock growth.
  • Manage comprehensive Marketing Team; bring out the best in our growing marketing team that includes a Marketing Manager, Marketing Operations Manager, Social Media Manager, Assoc. Director of Creative & Content, Multimedia Storyteller, Marketing Design Manager as well as Recruitment Specialists.
  • Work with the VP of Growth to set key performance growth targets and create a budget.
  • Own marketing budget and manage against growth goals; iterate and reprioritize as-needed based on performance.
  • Utilize content and brand marketing resources to introduce Global Citizen Year to new audiences.

The following skills are required:

  • 8+ years experience in a marketing function.
  • Love and passion for team building; proven track record of leveraging growing marketing team to meet and exceed goals.
  • Hands-on experience working across the full marketing funnel (customer acquisition, conversion and engagement) and across the marketing mix (including online and offline channels).
  • The ability to translate quantitative and qualitative data/insights into strong marketing strategies, combining strategy and execution.
  • Success owning and managing a budget, forecasting, and delivering on monthly goals.
  • Strong track record of effective collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders including internal teams, senior leadership team and external stakeholders.
  • A data-driven mentality combined with a bias towards action.
  • Proven ability to leverage multiple data sources to develop hypotheses and execute rapid test and learn strategies.
  • Experience with channel testing methodology, lifecycle marketing programs and multiple attribution models.
  • Experienced in bringing new products to market including market testing, strategy building, promotion and more.

Bonus points if have/are: Experience in a growth-stage company.

Position Logistics

Location: Global Citizen Year is headquartered in Oakland CA, but currently our staff is working remotely. We are open to whether this position is based in Oakland or is remote.

Start date: We are prioritizing applications received by January 21; ideal start is February 2022.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000. We are proud to provide a total compensation package that puts the person first. You can learn more about our benefits here.
