Rocio’s passionate about people, stories, cultures, and living a sustainably conscious lifestyle. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Rocio grew up learning French and Spanish at school while celebrating her Chinese heritage at home. She taught herself English when she was 11 as she became fascinated with British and American culture, and soon after moved to the U.S. in hopes of a better education. During her high school years, she had the opportunity to study abroad in France with CIEE under a full scholarship and also spent countless hours at her school’s greenhouse, volunteering at a local dog shelter, and working to help close the gender gap in STEM fields by empowering other girls in her community. Her goals for the year are to meet new people, become challenged by new perspectives, learn and understand, and of course, have fun! Her favorite quote is “The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see” - Gilbert K Chesterton.
