Gabriella Westcott

Gabriella is passionate about human connection, learning about/experiencing cultures other than her own, and helping others on a local and global level. She is involved in Rotary International where she was president of her high school's Interact Club and organized events to give back to her community. Rotary also gave her the opportunity to live in Spain for a month learning the ins and outs of Spanish culture. Her passion for volunteering abroad also led her to a month's work in the Dominican Republic where she taught English and helped build a local community center in a rural village. Her goals for the year, although constantly evolving, are to learn to live in the present, connect with her host family and fellow fellows on a deep level, document her experiences as much as possible, be able to fluently and creatively speak in her host language, and to make some type of a difference in her community. Her favorite quote is ÐTell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn," by Benjamin Franklin because she is a firm believer in letting experiences from the outside world be her true classroom.

What’s up, Gabriella?

“Oh hey, Bree!” “Whats up, Gabi?” “Hey Bridget, are you the one who lost their phone?” “It’s Libby, right?” “BREENANASSSS!”  Although I couldn’t tell you where Bridget or Libby derived from, the amount of different names that have been bestowed upon me this last week is undeniably too many.  But it’s understandable. Since birth, I’ve…
