Emily Nelson

Emily Nelson is passionate about animal welfare and protecting the Earth. During high school, she was involved in the Grand Rapids Youth Foundation, a committee which funded small non-profits focused on helping youth in the community. She also spent her time as a captain running cross country, playing soccer, and leading the environmental club. Her goals for the year are to work on her Spanish and Portuguese, immerse herself into a different culture, and create a home away from home. One of her favorite quotes is, "Normality is a paved road: It's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow." This piece written by Vincent Van Gogh inspires her to put her own twist on life.
