Bryan has a wide variety of passions. Some of which include theater, improv, photography, singing, creative writing, music, travel, and food; Bryan is a big foodie. Further, Bryan loves working with children. He cofounded The Improvisation Station, an after-school program dedicated to teaching young children improv to aid in fear-coping, teach them to accept and learn from failure, ease symptoms of social anxiety, and boost overall confidence. He also served as a two time counselor at Camp Harmony, a camp for underprivileged children. During high school, he was a member of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS), the Service Honors Society, the International Thespian Society, and the Mandarin Honors Society. His goals for the year are to become conversational in Portuguese, immerse himself in Brazilian culture, try various types of Brazilian cuisine, learn how to surf, establish special connections with his host family and other fellows, and most importantly open his eyes to the greater world around him through the entirety of his experience. He hopes to mature greatly, overcome challenges, and return home with fresh experiences and newfound perspectives. While these are his goals, he understands that life seldom goes as planned, so he is simply going to take advantage of this spectacular opportunity, go in with no expectations, and live in the present! Bryan is inspired by those who live life without fear and by those who truly know how to live in the moment and refuse to let life pass them by. Bryan is participating in Global Citizen Year through our partnership with the Tufts 1+4 program.
Well, it’s off to Brazil! I thought the day would never come. You know how on the first day of school, you go over the course syllabus and you’re thinking, “There’s no way we’re ever gonna do all of that.” And you’re praying going over…
