Bella Fassett

Bella is passionate about politics, public health, and social justice. In high school, she was an International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate, was a captain for the Speech and Debate team, and was the Communications Director for her Interact community service club. In her work to further youth civic engagement, she is a writer for the international, youth-led media organization, Balance the Ballot. In her public health work, she was a Teen Leader and a State Advisory Board member for Oregon's sexual health curriculum, My Future My Choice. Additionally, she has worked in substance abuse prevention as the Community Health Advocate for Deschutes County, forming and managing the Teen Community Health Advocates (TCHA) coalition. Her goals for the year are to strengthen her intercultural communication skills, to push her boundaries, to cultivate lasting relationships, and to become fluent in Spanish. Her favorite quote comes from playwright Tennessee Williams: "One thing I can be, if nothing else, is decently kind and understanding. Everything else can go, but that doesn’t have to.”
