Aya is passionate about making the world an equitable place to live and thrive through her different interests in the sciences and humanities. She loves to further her understanding of various scientific phenomena through biotechnology and chemistry projects, to help other students succeed academically, and to learn about the cultures of other countries. Aya aspires to use both her understanding of various cultures in addition to chemistry and biotechnology to help in the field of environmental science. She would specifically like to look into the area of environmental justice, which involves fighting against racism and socio-economic discrimination. Her goals for this year are to better her Spanish speaking abilities and to learn more about how to help the environment. Aya would also like to thank her family for being her constant support and inspiration.
