Ready to start your journey? You’ve come to the right place. The application takes about an hour to complete— not bad for the first step to a lifetime of greatness and impact.

Here are a few tips:

  • Take some time to think about why you want to apply to Global Citizen Year. What excites, inspires and scares you? Are you hoping to learn about new cultures? Gain hands on experience? Get ahead for college?
  • You can save your work and return to your application later. Include your full name, email, and school graduation year, then click on “Save my progress and resume later” below.
  • Already started your gap year application? Click on “Resume a previously saved form” below.
  • If you have questions about anything to do with the application process (financial aid, eligibility, the possibility of school credit, etc.) contact us at applications@globalcitizenyear.org

We have a need-blind admissions process. We offer need-based financial aid and are committed to making our gap year program accessible to ALL students. Give us your best guess on how much financial aid you might need (full aid, some, or none). Don't worry if your guess is a little off - you can update it later! We encourage you to apply early for priority consideration for aid. You can find more information about financial aid and tuition here

College Partnerships

We have some exciting college partnerships!

  • Tufts University 1+4 Bridge Year Program: Take a gap year before starting your freshman year at Tufts University. This program is exclusively for students who are accepted to Tufts University. Contact Tufts University for more information.
  • Dickinson College Bridge Year Program: Once you complete Global Citizen Year, you will be eligible for a $10,000 scholarship to Dickinson College. You can apply directly to Dickinson College.
  • Quest University: Once you complete your Global Citizen Year, you will be eligible for a $5,000/year merit scholarship ($20,000 total) to Quest University.
  • We also have partnerships with the Admissions offices at the following colleges (Lafayette CollegeColby CollegeAllegheny CollegeThey encourage students to take a Global Citizen Year before arriving on campus and they will hold your spot and your financial aid package!
